Getting Current with Donor Advised Funds

This session will provide an overview of donor advised funds (DAFs), including recent developments as this tool continues to evolve. We will also discuss the likely impact of the recent tax changes on DAFs, as well as possible implications of the recent IRS notice concerning DAFs. Bring the questions you want answered about the practical workings of this very popular grant making platform.

Steve Maislin is responsible for leading efforts to evolve the organization’s continuing focus on serving its donors and honoring their charitable intent. Steve came to GHCF in 2001 after an eighteen year career as an estate planning advisor to high net worth families. He works with GHCF donors and their professional advisors to develop and administer charitable plans that meet family financial and giving goals and help to expand philanthropy in our community. Steve is a frequent speaker on charitable planning, donor advised funds, and the power of the community foundation platform to grow philanthropic impact. Steve graduated from St. John’s School in Houston, and received a Bachelor’s degree in economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He received his JD from the University of Texas School of Law.
