EVENT CANCELED
Ethical Challenges in Our Work
Session will be moderated by Houston CGPH board member Jeffery McLain, CFRE
In this month’s meeting, we’ll enjoy a round-table discussion on ethical challenges we have faced personally or at our organization. Without checking with the fundraising team, has a volunteer, organizational leader or faculty member accepted a gift that presents an ethical challenge for your organization? Has an unknown planned gift put your organization in an awkward position because of the expectations the donor outlined in the will? Does your organization have a clear Gift Acceptance Policy and a way to assess problematic donations? Accountability, ethical behavior, transparency, honesty and trust are just a few of the attributes that are at the heart of what we do as fundraisers. At this session, we will springboard from a high profile ethically challenging donation (Jeffrey Epstein/MIT-Harvard) that presented problems for the organization, and, local CGPH members will share ethical challenges their organization has faced. Perhaps your organization is currently dealing with an ethical donor / leadership issue that your fellow CGPH members can help find a solution? Session will be moderated by Houston CGPH board member Jeffery McLain, CFRE You will also have a chance to meet Kent Wiemer the incoming President of the National Association of Gift Planners Board. Kent is Director of Trusts, Estates & Gift Planning at Parkland Foundation in Dallas. We are proud to have a Texan leading our national organization and we want give him all the Houston love he deserves!
