Morning Session/10-11 a.m.
Estate Planning: Making Sure the Client’s Assets Get to the Right Beneficiaries

How assets pass at death makes a difference.  This presentation will discuss four different methods for transmitting assets at death (three of which are “non-probate” methods) and the pros and cons of each method.   In addition, the presentation will discuss how to coordinate the distribution of the different types of assets a client might own at death, to achieve their estate planning goals and provide a comprehensive estate plan.

Luncheon Session/11:30-1 p.m.

The Journey After Death: What Does the Post-Death Process Actually Involve?

Is probate really that bad?  If probate is avoided, does that mean nothing has to be done when a person dies?  Who is responsible for carrying out the decedent’s estate plan and satisfying state and federal legal requirements when someone dies?  What really has to be done when someone dies?
