Arielle is Board Certified in Estate Planning and Probate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. She received her Bachelor of Science in Special Education (with highest honors) from Texas A&M University and her Juris Doctorate (with honors) from the University of Texas School of Law.
Ruth E. Shapiro, Senior Assistant General Counsel
University of Houston
Ruth Shapiro is currently Senior Assistant General Counsel at the University of Houston handling specialized areas such as advancement and planned gifts. In that role, Ruth has negotiated and handled complicated gift transactions, endowment and naming agreements, and estate planning and probate issues. A graduate of Columbia Law School, Ruth worked for many years in private practice in New York and Houston as a commercial litigator before joining the University of Houston in 2006.
Ruth has been co-chair of the Houston Bar Association’s Lawyers for Literacy, Law Day, and Campaign for the Homeless Committees. She has been on the Board of the Houston Lawyers Referral Service and a member of the Association of Women Attorneys. For a change of pace, she is currently President of Bay Area Rowing Club in Clear Lake.
